Components

a half-tsp of mirin, a sweet wine from Japan

one minced garlic clove

One-third cup soy sauce

⅛ teaspoon Aji-No-Moto® or other monosodium glutamate

One-third cup of white sugar

One pound of paper-thin-sliced beef sirloin steak

Slice three green onions into two-inch pieces.

Guidelines

1.Combine the sugar, monosodium glutamate, soy sauce, mirin, and garlic in a bowl and stir to dissolve the sugar. After adding the beef and green onions to the marinade, toss to coat, and let rest for half an hour. Wet bamboo skewers by soaking them.

2.Set the oven rack approximately 6 inches from the heat source and preheat the broiler in the oven.

3.One thin slice of beef and one green onion should be rolled into a roll. Two bamboo skewers should be inserted into the roll, about 1/2 inch apart. Again,putting three meat rolls on each of the two skewers twice more. Continue until all of the beef has been folded up, using the remaining beef, green onion, and skewers. Arrange the skewers on a broiler pan. Throw away any leftover marinade.

4.Bake for 3 to 3 1/2 minutes on each side, or until browned on both sides.
